INTRODUCTION 1
Christians often avoid the book of Revelation thinking it to be way too intimidating. There is hell-fire and beasts, rivers turning to blood and swords coming out of mouths. But it was written by John, one of Jesus closest followers. After Jesus died, rose again and ascended into heaven, his followers were persecuted for their faith and at some point John was exiled to an island called Patmos. There Jesus came to him in a vision with a message for seven churches that were in that area. John DOES use very vivid imagery throughout the book. But even though this type of literature can be analyzed BY the reader, it's main purpose is for impact ON the reader. Are you ready for impact?
As you read the first chapter of Revelation this week, spend some time praying and asking Jesus to make your heart and the hearts of the people in our church more ready to receive whatever He has for us in this series.
