James says there is an earthly wisdom that comes from jealousy and selfish ambition (v14). In our culture, this type of wisdom is passed down through TV shows, movies, and music. How have you been or how are you often tempted to live by that kind of wisdom?



This kind of earthly and unspiritual wisdom (v15) is a result of using only our limited human understanding. How does the wisdom that comes from jealousy and selfish ambition make sense to people who don't know God?

In reality, this type of wisdom is demonic (v15) so there is a destructive nature to it (see John 10:10). How does jealousy and selfish ambition lead to disorder (v16) in families, in school, at work, in society, or even in your own life?
